Watertown Fire Rescue dispatched to early morning tree fire

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a small fire in a tree caused by a broken branch that had fallen and was resting on a live electric wire.

At 4:30 this morning, crews were called to the intersection of 5th Avenue SE and 6th Street South.

When they arrived, crews found a branch in an alley that had snapped off, and electricity was arcing between the wire and the branch, causing a small fire.

Watertown Municipal Utilities was called to the scene, and removed the branch.

The Watertown Police Department assisted on the call.
