WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on the South Bypass across from the gun range Monday.

On arrival crews found a semi truck had jackknifed in the north ditch and struck a high line electric pole.

The pole broke off from the ground and was hanging over the semi, the insulators from the line were still keeping the power pole attached to the power line.

The driver remained in the semi until fire crews assisted him safely out of the truck.

Watertown Municipal Utilities arrived a short time later to remove the pole from the power lines and safely off the truck.

The driver of the semi was evaluated by Watertown Fire Paramedics and refused further medical care.
