Watertown Fire Rescue called to fire at Twin City Die and Casting

WATERTOWN, S.D.– Watertown Fire Rescue responded to Twin City Die and Casting at 122 Cessna Street for an oil burner that malfunctioned and caught on fire.

Workers in the plant noticed a large amount of smoke from the oil burner and dialed 911 just before 9 p.m. Monday night.

Watertown Fire Rescue crews were met at a large garage door by an employee that had turned off power to the oil burner and used several extinguishers to contain fire.

When crews made their way to the oil burner, no active fire was observed. The oil burner was still very hot and was closely monitored while it cooled down.

Fire Rescue sent a crew to the roof to make sure fire did not extend out the chimney onto roof. .

No injuries were reported and the plant is able to resume operations.

Fire crews were on scene for approximately 40 minutes.
