WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue was called out Saturday night to clean up a diesel fuel spill at Stone’s Truck Stop.

A semi was southbound on Interstate 29 when it struck an object that punctured the bottom of the saddle tank filled with diesel fuel.

The semi exited the Interstate and pulled into the truck stop and made the call for help.

Fire Rescue says there were about 100 gallons of fuel in the tank.

They deployed a containment pool underneath the tank to contain the remainderof the fuel that was leaking, and used other material to clean up the spilled fuel near the truck stop’s fuel island.

All told, they were on the scene for about 90 minutes.
