Watertown finishes out weekend at Creighton World Series Classic

LINCOLN, N.E. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Post 17 would finish out the Creighton World Series Classic with a win on Friday, and losses on Saturday and Sunday.

On Friday, Watertown blanked Millard West (Omaha, Nebraska) 5-0. Post 17 would drop down eight hits in the game and were led by Trevon Rawdon with two hits. Seven different Watertown players would collect hits. Jerod Cyrus would throw the complete game, going all seven innings allowing two hits and striking out three.

The purple and gold would fall to Desert Oasis (Las Vegas, Nevada) on Saturday 10-2. The game was called in the sixth inning. Connor Hanson would drop down two hits for Watertown in the game. Braxton Lacher would have one hit and one RBI. Easton Thury would throw 88 pitches in five innings of work, allowing four hits, six runs and walked three.

Post 17 would wrap up their time in Omaha with a 6-5 loss to Lincoln Southwest (Lincoln, Nebraska). Jerod Cyrus would have a multiple hit game with two hits and one RBI, Ben Althoff would have one hit and two RBI’s. Zach Hirsch would throw five innings on the hill, throwing 77 pitches, allowing nine hits, five runs and fanning two. Kade Russell would throw two innings in relief.

Watertown Post 17 (22-23) will come home to face Renner Post 307 at 5 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 30th. Games will be broadcast on the Talk of Watertown, 1480 KSDR and GoWatertown.net/Post17.
