Watertown falls to Millard West in Round of 16 at Gopher Classic

EDINA, M.N. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Post 17 would fall to Millard West in the Round of 16 at the Gopher Classic on Monday 14-1. Game was called in the fifth inning due to the run rule.

Ben Althoff had Watertown’s lone hit in the game. Kyle Karst pitched three innings on the hill allowing nine hits, five runs and struck out one. Chase Christianson and Weston Everson each pitched an inning in relief.

Watertown (18-33) comes home for a pair of region games against Huron on Wednesday at 5 and 7 p.m. on New Country KS93.

Watertown remains in the 12 spot in the latest power points ranking while Huron sits just below at number 13. Brandon stays at the top of the rankings followed by Rapid City Post 22, Mitchell, Brookings and Sioux Falls East. The top eight teams in the state will host the Class A Regions July 22nd and 23rd.
