WATERTOWN, S.D.—A Watertown convenience store has closed its doors, with no immediate plans to re-open.

The Freedom Valu Center at 615 9th Avenue Southeast has signs posted on its front doors today that read, “We are closed. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

The doors to the store are locked, and all the lights are turned off.

There are no indications the closure is in any way related to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The store was being operated by I-Mart Stores LLC of Orland Park, Illinois.

Last January, I-Mart purchased the two Freedom Valu Centers in Watertown, along with convenience stores in Huron, Mitchell, Vermillion and Yankton.

Sources tell KWAT News the Yankton store closed Sunday night.

The second Freedom Valu Center in Watertown, located at 225 West Kemp Avenue, remains open for business.
