WATERTOWN, S.D.–The amount of money the city of Watertown and Codington County are spending to mitigate spring flooding this year hasn’t been tabulated yet, but when a final number is known, those two government entities would like to be reimbursed by the federal government.

The city council on Monday night approved a resolution asking Governor Kristi Noem to seek a federal disaster declaration on their behalf.

City Manager Amanda Mack says the key number is 1.6 million. That’s the dollar damage threshold the state needs to reach statewide to seek and receive federal assistance….

Codington County Commissioners are expected to pass a similar resolution at their meeting tomorrow (Tuesday).
