WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council approved two more permits for curb space reservation parking at their meeting Tuesday night.

Computer Dan’s on Broadway requested one space. Empire Pizza on First Avenue Southwest requested two spaces.

Last September, the council approved curb space reservation permits for two spaces each for Gather, Mavericks and Needleworks Sewing Center and Pitmaster Supply.

But some council members are raising questions about how this will impact parking availability downtown as more apartment buildings are going up, and a new downtown park is developed.

Councilman Colin Paulsen is concerned that the more permits the city approves, the less parking availability there’ll be. He suggested looking at other options….

City Manager Amanda Mack reminded the council that these reserved parking spots in front of certain businesses are based on an honor system, and police aren’t out looking for violators……

The permits approved for Computer Dan’s and Empire Pizza expire on September 1st.
