Watertown boy injured in accident at Oakwood State Park

BROOKINGS, S.D.–A seven year-old Watertown boy was injured Friday night in an accident at Oakwood State Park.
The Brookings County Sheriff’s Department says the boy was riding an electric scooter on a trail in the park when he crossed a road and was struck by a pickup.
During the impact, the boy’s leg became pinned under a rear tire of the truck.
The boy was taken to the Brookings Hospital and later transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital. His name was not released.
The pickup, driven by 41 year-old Brian Boydston of Watertown, sustained an estimated $1,700 damage.
The sheriff’s department says Boydston was traveling at an appropriate speed when the accident occurred.
