WATERTOWN, S.D.–It’s not unusual to see wet stretches of pavement during melting temperatures like today.
But snowmelt is not the cause of a wet stretch on U.S. Highway 81 near 3rd Avenue South in Watertown.
The culprit is a water main break.
City Engineer Heath VonEye says it’s being repaired by crews with Watertown Municipal Utilities.
There are lane reductions in the affected area. Drivers should watch their speed, and give repair crews plenty of room to do their work.
