Washington, Dakota Valley & Sioux Valley take home cheer and dance titles

ABERDEEN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Aberdeen played host to the Class A and AA South Dakota State Cheer and Dance Competitions Friday and Saturday at Golden Eagles Arena.

Sioux Falls Washington would sweep both the Overall Cheer and Overall Dance in the AA taking home a score of 292.5 in cheer and 293.83 in dance. The host Aberdeen would place sixth in Overall Cheer with a 224 and eight in Overall Dance with a 245-.17. Huron would take home tenth in Overall Cheer with a 197.5 and fourth in Overall Dance with a 266. Watertown would place twelfth in Overall Cheer with a score of 186.5.

The Arrows will graduate Sydney Ahlers, Tashi Petrich, Olivia Stanley, Dacey Veflin, Olivia Weber and Katie Buechler from the cheer and dance squad.

In the A Overall Dance, Dakota Valley won their tenth title with a score of 279.83.  Clark/Willow Lake took home seventh place with a 158.67.  Northwestern took home a ninth place trophy with a score of 60.

In the Class A Overall Cheer, Sioux Valley won their thirteenth state championship with a score of 293.5. Deubrook Area placed tenth with a 181.5, Redfield fourteenth with a 173 and Arlington/Lake Preston seventeenth with a 164.5.
