Warner’s Cody Larson signs with SDSU

BROOKINGS, S.D. (GoJacks.com) — Cody Larson, a three time South Dakota Class B cross country champ from Warner, has signed to compete for the Jackrabbit cross country and track and field teams in the 2021-22 school year. Larson captured his third consecutive title this past fall in dominating fashion winning the Class B title by 47 seconds. His time of 15:54 for 5,000 meters was the fastest recorded on the snow covered layout at Hart Ranch in Rapid City among the three state classes. His best time for 5,000 meters was 15:48 from the 2020 Lake Region Conference meet.

On the track, Larson recorded best times of 9:51 for 3200 meters and 4:39 for 1600 meters as a sophomore. He captured the Class B state 3200 meter title in 2019 after a runner-up finish in 2018. In total he has collected five state meet medals with additional placings coming in the 1600 meters and as a member of the Monarchs 4×800 meter relay teams.

He plans on majoring in mechanical engineering.

The Jackrabbit men’s cross country team will chase its fifth consecutive Summit League Cross Country Championship this spring.
