Walz supports making Minnesota a “sanctuary state” for immigrants

ST. PAUL, Minn.–Some Minnesota state lawmakers are supporting a bill that would keep state and local agencies from cooperating with federal immigration officials.
The North Star Act was introduced last year and has already received support from nearly three-dozen Democrat lawmakers.
The bill would allow state and local authorities to cooperate with federal criminal investigations but would deny support for any immigration or deportation activity.
Twelve U.S. states have similar laws on the books, and Democrat Governor Tim Walz has indicated his support for such a measure.
