ST. PAUL, MN — Before tomorrow’s start of the Great Minnesota Get Together, Minnesotans are being offered a sweet state fair deal.

Today, Governor Tim Walz announced the State of Minnesota will offer $100 Visa gift cards on-site to those who get their first COVID-19 vaccine dose at the fairgrounds.

“If you’ve waited to get your shot, there’s never been a better opportunity,” said Walz.

The new incentive comes after a similar reward program gave nearly 80,000 people gift cards of the same amount for signing up for the shot since July 30.

Walz adds the first 3,600 Minnesotans to get their first dose at fair will also be able to claim the Visa card immediately.

The fun begins Thursday, Aug. 26, and runs until Labor Day, Sept. 6.
