Voters approve consolidation of Oldham-Ramona and Rutland School Districts

OLDHAM, S.D.—Voters in the Oldham-Ramona and Rutland School Districts have unofficially passed a vote to consolidate the two districts.

In an election Tuesday, voters in the Oldham-Ramona School District cast 143 votes in favor of the consolidation, and 117 votes against, or 55-to-45-percent. In order to pass, the
consolidation required a 50-percent-plus-one vote. Voter turnout in the Oldham-Ramona School District was just more than 49-percent.

In the Rutland School District, voters cast 124 votes in favor of consolidation, and 117 votes against, or 52-to-48-percent. Voter turnout in the Rutland School District was close to
53-percent.

Both the Oldham-Ramona and Rutland School boards will each need to canvass the votes from Tuesday’s election. They are both scheduled to do so during their respective meetings in
June.
