WATERTOWN, S.D.–A member of the Watertown City Council has announced he’s running for re-election in June.

Glen Vilhauer announced his plans Tuesday. He represents Ward E.

The other councilman from Ward E–Dan Albertsen–is not running for re-election.

Following the June elections, the size of the city council will be cut nearly in half, and will include a part-time mayor.

It’ll go from 10 members to six, plus the mayor.

Tuesday was the first day candidates could begin collecting petition signatures to ensure a spot on the June 15th ballot. The deadline for submitting those signatures is May 7th.

Earlier this week, former Councilman Mike Danforth announced he would be running for the at-large seat on the council, and there are three announced candidates for mayor, including incumbent Sarah Caron.
