USD professor dies from injuries sustained in car vs. bicycle accident

VERMILLION, S.D.–A history professor at the University of South Dakota has died from injuries sustained in a car vs. bicycle crash last week.

Police and emergency medical personnel responded to a crash at the intersection of East Main Street and Anderson Street in Vermillion on the morning of November 14th.

The bicyclist — 67-year-old Clayton Lehmann of Vermillion — sustained injuries as a result of the crash.

Lehmann was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital where he died from his injuries two days later, according to the Vermillion Police Department.

The car that struck him was driven by a juvenile, but no other details have been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
