VEBLEN, S.D. (AP) – Authorities have released the names of two teenagers killed in a crash in northeastern South Dakota.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 18-year-old Bishop Swallow of Nemo and 17-year-old Samantha Shortman of Rosholt were killed in the crash four miles north and five miles west of Veblen on Monday morning.

Authorities say Swallow was driving the Chevrolet Impala on a gravel road when the car went into the ditch and hit a tree.

Shortman was a passenger and died at the scene. áSwallow died while he was being airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital. The patrol says both were wearing seat belts.
