WATERTOWN, S.D.—There’s good news for travelers. A road construction project east of Watertown is expected to be finished in just a few weeks.

A roughly 15 mile stretch of U.S. Highway 212 from South Dakota Highway 15 to the Minnesota state line is close to reopening.

Jeff Brink is with the Watertown office of the South Dakota DOT….

Brink says it looks like the detour signs will come down and that stretch of highway will re-open to traffic on November 25th……

The project also includes repaving the shoulders of the highway, but that will have to wait….

The total cost of the project is $14 million. Knife River LLC of Sioux City, Iowa is the general contractor.
