UPDATE: Train engine derails in Watertown (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.—No injuries or property damage Monday night when a train engine derailed in Watertown.

It happened just before 6 p.m. at a rail crossing in the 500-block of 4th Avenue Southwest.

The engine had a plow mounted on the front of it, and derailed after hitting compacted ice.

Codington County Emergency Management Director Jamie Torstenson says they had the situation cleaned up within a couple of hours….

The crossing was re-opened before ten o’clock last night.
