JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The body of a missing Buchanan, North Dakota Woman was recovered Thursday evening.

It’s a tragic ending to a nearly weeklong search in rural Stutsman County. Searches began after 63-year-old Sonia Heinle failed to arrive home on Sunday evening.

Heinle had been visiting her son who lived nearby when she attempted to get home during near-blizzard conditions. Crews began searching Monday before finding the car Tuesday. Due to freezing temperatures, they were unable to recover the vehicle until Wednesday.

Her body was recovered in the slough outside of the vehicle.
