UPDATE: Press conference on Ravnsborg crash scheduled for Tuesday
October 12, 2020
SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–Things have been quiet since South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg (pictured) struck and killed a pedestrian on U.S. Highway 14 just outside Highmore last month.
That’ll change Tuesday.
Governor Kristi Noem and South Dakota Public Safety Department Secretary Craig Price will hold a news conference at 1:00 p.m. at Sioux Falls City Hall to update the public on details of the investigation.
Ravnsborg hit 55 year-old Joseph Boever of Highmore on the night of September 12th.
Ravnsborg was returning to Pierre after attending a Republican Lincoln Day Dinner in Redfield that evening.
He says he did not drink any alcohol before, during, or after the event, and contacted Hyde County authorities immediately after the accident saying he thought he’d hit a deer.
Ravnsborg was not injured.
Several outside agencies, including the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation were called in to investigate, to avoid any conflict of interest in the case.
