UPDATE: North Dakota police officer killed in shootout identified

GRAND FORKS, N.D.–The police officer shot and killed in Grand Forks was a 29 year-old married man with a ten month-old son.

Cody Holte died in a shootout in Grand Forks Wednesday night from injuries sustained in a shootout earlier in the day.

Holte was part of a team of law enforcement officers who went to serve an eviction notice on a man at a Grand Forks apartment.

The man initiated gunfire that left Holte and a civilian female in the apartment dead.

Holte was a Hendrum, Minnesota native who graduated from Minnesota State-Moorhead, and was a member of the North Dakota National Guard.
