UPDATE: Jail escapee in central Minnesota captured

WADENA, Minn.–The search for an escapee in Wadena has ended. Ryan Petro was apprehended in Wadena Tuesday afternoon. He had been on the run for more than 24 hours.

Extra police officers were assigned to schools and doors were locked Tues. in what the Wadena-Deer Creek School District called a “soft” lockdown.

The 34 year-old Petro was handcuffed and wearing an orange jumpsuit when he escaped Mon. while he was being taken to court.

He had been in jail on disorderly conduct, damage to property, fleeing and burglary charges and was considered dangerous. People were urged not to approach him.
