UPDATE: Duluth man now charged with killing Minnesota college professor

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — A Duluth man has been charged in the killing of a St. Cloud professor who was fatally shot after answering the door at his home in what police have called a random attack.
Jason Beckman (pictured) is accused of killing 68-year-old Ed Ward early Sunday.
Ward was taken to a St. Cloud hospital where he died.
The 45-year-old Beckman was charged Tuesday with murder in the second degree, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, and theft of a motor vehicle.
Ward taught at St. Cloud State University for more than three decades.
