UPDATE: Arrest made in North Dakota bar killing

SHEYENNE, N.D. (KFGO)–A man wanted for murder after a shooting at a Sheyenne, North Dakota bar has been arrested and is in custody.

According to the Benson County Sheriff’s Office, Nicholas Poitra was apprehended by law enforcement and taken into custody.

The 45 year-old Poitra had been on the run since Sunday when he is accused of fatally shooting Troyal Thumb, 30, at Rindy’s Bar. The two were acquaintances and had an argument prior to the shooting.

According to the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, Poitra stole a vehicle at gunpoint as he left the bar.

A warrant was issued for Poitra’s arrest Tuesday.

Poitra is facing 11 charges including murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a short-barreled shotgun, seven counts of terrorizing, and robbery.
