WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO) – A Breckenridge, Minnesota man has been charged in the shooting death of a man in Wahpeton last Monday night.

Thirty three year-old Anthony Kruger (pictured) is charged with murder in the shooting of 40-year-old Jeremiah Medenwald of Hankinson, North Dakota. Medenwald was shot while he was in a car outside Stern Sports Arena.

The criminal complaint says Medenwald and Kruger had been at Dakota Magic Casino prior to the shooting. A witness, who got into the car just before the shooting, gave a description of the shooter. The clothes that Kruger was wearing at the casino matched what Kruger was wearing when shots were fired at the car. 15 shots were fired at the driver’s side door of the car. One of the rounds struck Medenwald in the back.

Bail was set at $1 million cash or bond and Kruger remains in the Richland County Jail.

State’s Attorney Megan Kummer says she will not give details about a possible motive.

Kruger is also charged with methamphetamine possession. Court documents say the meth was found Friday night when he was brought into the Wahpeton Police Dept. He’s also charged with illegally having a gun as a convicted felon.
