CASS COUNTY, N.D. (KFGO) – Two men have been arrested after they were caught burglarizing a cell tower in rural Casselton, North Dakota.
Detective Joe Gress of the Cass County Sheriff’s office says an employee of the AT&T tower saw a suspicious vehicle at the tower on surveillance video just before 4:00 p.m. Sunday and went to the scene, where the suspects were using a saw. The suspects then fled in a van but sheriff’s deputies located and stopped the van minutes later.
Gress says the suspects, 39-year-old Brandon Moore of Oklahoma and 27-year-old Sidney Walker of Virginia, had been working on a job site in South Dakota and came up to the area on their own. Both men were arrested on charges of burglary.
Gress says Moore and Walker were attempting to extract microwave conductive tubing made of copper from the tower. He says the tower had been burglarized previously and the sheriff’s department has been working with AT&T to better secure the site.
