GROTON, S.D.—The South Dakota Highway Patrol says two men have been killed when a pickup rear ended a dump truck Tuesday afternoon.
It happened on U.S. Highway 12, five miles west of Groton.
The dump truck was westbound on Highway 12, activated its turn signal, and was making a left hand turn when the pickup crashed into it from behind.
The two men in the pickup, both 54 years of age, were killed.
The 60 year-old man driving the dump truck was not injured.
The crash shut down the westbound lanes of Highway 12 for about 90 minutes.
The Highway Patrol says all three people involved were wearing seat belts. No names have been released.
