Two dogs die in fire that destroys Volga mobile home

VOLGA, S.D.–Two dogs died in a Monday night fire that destroyed a mobile home in Volga.
Fire departments from Volga and Bruce, along with deputies from the Brookings County Sheriff’s Department were called to 1302 U.S. Highway 14 just before 7:00 p.m.
When they arrived, they found the mobile home filled with smoke. No one was at home at the time of the fire.
After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters discovered two dogs were not able to make it out of the residence.
The mobile home, with an estimated value of $15,000, is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
