WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO) – Two people were killed and two others were hurt during a collision that involved three pickups and a car on highway 13 just west of I-29 in Richland County early Monday morning.

The North Dakota State Patrol says the driver of a car got stuck in snow along the shoulder of the highway. The driver of a pickup stopped and was starting to attach a tow rope to the car when another pickup approached. The driver of the car was assisting when the driver of another pickup struck the car and the pedestrians, killing both of them.

The driver of the pickup that hit the two pedestrians was 50-year-old Wade Mund of Wahpeton. He suffered minor injuries. A passenger in the car, Corey Myers of West Fargo, was seriously injured and flown to Fargo by Sanford AirMed. The driver of the third pickup wasn’t hurt.

It was dark at the time and the highway was ice and snow-covered.
