KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Joe Ryan pitched six innings of two-hit ball against Kansas City’s revamped lineup, Miguel Sano drove in the game’s only run and the Twins held on for a 1-0 victory to avoid a series sweep.

Emilio Pagan worked around a leadoff walk in the ninth for Minnesota’s first save of the season. Zack Greinke took the loss despite allowing just one run over five innings. Kansas City’s bullpen kept the game close by running its scoreless streak to 21 1/3 innings.

Twins skipper Rocco Baldelli on Ryan’s performance:

Minnesota comes home to begin a new series against the Chicago White Sox at 7:10 p.m. tonight on 950 KWAT.
