TUESDAY UPDATE: COVID-19 cases in South Dakota approaching 1,000; Codington County adds one positive case

PIERRE, S.D.–The South Dakota Department of Health reported 130 additional cases of the COVID-19 virus Tuesday, bringing the state’s cumulative total to 988 infections.

Of the new cases being reported, all but six of them are in Minnehaha County, which now reports 768 cases, or 77-percent of the statewide total. Minnehaha County reports 120 people who’ve tested positive in that county have recovered. 

Other new cases were reported in Lincoln County (five new cases), and Codington County (one new case).

The Health Department says the number of South Dakotans who’ve recovered from the virus has risen to 261, an increase of 54 from Monday. Forty-five people have required hospitalization, and 8,308 people have tested negative.

The death toll remains unchanged at six.

Of Codington County’s 13 total cases, 11 have recovered.
