Truck driver killed in collision with train west of Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, S.D.—A man has died in a collision between a semi and train in Brown County.

It happened late Friday afternoon, seven miles west of Aberdeen.

The semi, pulling a trailer loaded with soybeans, was northbound when it was crossing railroad tracks just north of U.S. Highway 12.

The semi and trailer collided with an eastbound BNSF train consisting of two locomotives and a box car.

The 66 year-old man driving the semi was extricated from the wreckage and taken by ambulance to an Aberdeen hospital where he died.

His name has not been released yet.

There were three members of the train crew. They were not injured.
