Trash fire in Brookings spreads to several parked vehicles

BROOKINGS, S.D.–Three fire departments along with law enforcement and amublance personnel were called out to a fire Monday afternoon in Brookings.
The fire was in a trash receptacle at a business in the 3400 block of Main Avenue South.
The fire left the containment area and spread to a large pile of tires.
After engulfing the tires, the flames spread to several vehicles that were parked nearby, causing significant damage.
Fire departments from Brookings, Aurora and Volga extinguished the fire.
