RAYMOND, Minn.–Residents of Raymond, Minnesota were asked to evacuate their homes early this morning after 22 cars of Burlington Northern Santa Fe train derailed on the western edge of town.

Kandiyohi County Sheriff Eric Tollefson says it happened around 1:00 a.m.

Some of the cars were carrying ethanol and liquid corn syrup and caught fire.

An emergency shelter was set up at the Central Minnesota Christian School in the nearby town of Prinsburg.

It’s not known exactly how many cars derailed, but the sheriff says the fire has been contained, and it remains an, “active scene” this morning.
