THURSDAY UPDATE: South Dakota’s COVID-19 count rises to 1,311 cases; one additional death reported

PIERRE, S.D.—COVID-19 infections in South Dakota rose another 143 cases Thursday, putting the cumulative count statewide at 1,311.

Of the new cases being reported Thursday, 131 of them are in Minnehaha County, where 1,065 infections have occurred.

South Dakota’s death toll from the virus also rose by one, to seven.

In addition to Minnehaha, counties reporting new cases Thursday were Hamlin (one), Jerauld (one), Lake (one), Lincoln (six), Pennington (one) and Yankton (one).

Eighty-six percent of all cases in South Dakota have occurred in Minnehaha and Lincoln counties.

The Health Department says 373 South Dakotans have recovered from the virus, and 55 people have required hospitalization.
