Three injured in crash in rural Brookings County

AURORA, S.D.–Three people were injured this weekend in a two vehicle crash in rural Brookings County.

A car driven by 18 year-old Amy Charging of Aurora ran a stop sign and collided with an International straight truck driven by a 43 year-old Shakopee, Minnesota man.

Charging and a passenger in her car, 19 year-old Xavier Nygard of Brookings, were taken to a Sioux Falls hospital.

The truck driver was taken to the Brookings hospital.

Charging faces numerous charges including DUI, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Vehicular Battery.

The crash occurred northeast of Aurora at the intersection of Highway 14 and 478th Avenue around 5:30 Saturday morning.

Both vehicles are considered to be a total loss.
