HURON, S.D. (Performance Radio) — Dru Strand has been named head football coach of the Huron Tigers.
Strand has been on the Tigers staff the past six years, serving mainly as wide receivers coach, plus he was the offensive coordinator in 2018 when Huron was 11AA runner up. Strand says this has been a goal to follow his dad, who was a long time head football coach in Adrian, Minnesota:
Strand knows the first challenge is to get more kids out for football:
Strand is also an assistant wrestling coach in Huron and has also coached in the spring and summer baseball program.
He is a 2011 graduate of Adrian High School and a 2016 graduate of Dakota State University in Madison. Huron finished 2 and 7 last year and missed the playoffs. He replaces Scott Spanton, who resigned after three years as head coach of the Tigers.
