State wrestling begins today in Sioux Falls

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — The 2022 Class A and B State Wrestling Championships will begin today (February 24th) at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls.

Watertown qualified 11 for this year’s Class A tournament, Sloan Johannsen (113), Braden Le (120), Connor Hanson (126), Weston Everson (132), Carson Hansmann (138), Ian Johnson (152), Jax Ketwig (160), Mac Young (182), Brock Eitreim (195), Draven Bau (220), and Micah Hach (285).

Milbank qualified six for the Class A tournament, Owen Fischer (106), Jacob Johnson (120), Kaden Krause (138), Barrett Schneck (160), Jesse Schneck (170), and Leyton Raffety (182)

Bryce Hawkinson (126) will head to the B Boys from Britton-Hecla and Cecilia Anderson (154) will compete for the Braves in the girls tournament.

Clark/Willow Lake Boys will send seven to the B Tournament,
Cooper Pommer (106), Joshua Kannegieter (126), Ethan Mcelhone (138), Gunnar Kvistad (152), Lucas Kannegieter (170), Kasey Michalski (182), and Avery Nichols (285).   The Cyclones will send one girl to the tournament this season, Dani Batchelor (113).

Deuel qualified four this year, Gavin Kloos (126), Jaxon Quail (132), Dominic Constant (170), Justin Granum (195).

Three qualified from Hamlin/Castlewood, John Yonker (120), Chase Chambers (145), and Troy Randall Jr. (152).

Kingsbury County will send five to the B, Gannon Gilligan (113), Dylan Zell (132), Caleb Clark (152), Connor Johnson (170) and Nate Kersting (195).

Five from Sisseton qualified, Holden Hawkins (113), Ian Metz (120), Boe Iverson (138), Josh Long (152), and Mason Shulz (182).

Four boys qualified for the B from Webster, Tacey Miller (106), Haeden Jorgenson (120), Cael Larson (138), and Caleb McGregor (220).  Two Webster girls also qualified, Abbigail Garrett (142), and Annie Witt (154).

Brandon Valley (Class A) and Canton (Class B) boys won the individual team titles in 2021. This year the Girls combined class will have the ability to claim an individual team title.
