State volleyball tournaments begin today across South Dakota

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — The South Dakota Class AA, A, and B Volleyball Tournaments begin today across the state.

The Class A tournament will be held at the Watertown Civic Arena.  The 2 p.m. game will feature the fifth seed Hamlin facing the four seed Winner.  After falling the SoDak 16 the past three years, the Chargers reached the tournament with a 3-0 win over Mobridge-Pollock.  Coach Ashley Heinrich talks about the girls reaction after finally getting over the hump:

So what will it take for Hamlin to claim a state title?

Brent Nathaniel will have coverage of all the Hamlin volleyball games at the Class A Tournament on New Country KS93.  Other games at the Class A Tournament include the one seed Sioux Falls Christian taking on the eight seed Madison at noon, the three seed Rapid City Christian versus the six seed Dakota Valley at 5 p.m., and the two seed Hill City versus the seven seed Parker at 7.p.m.

The Class AA Tournament will be held at the Swiftel Center in Brookings.  The defending AA champion Watertown Arrows are back in the tournament after a 3-0 SoDak 16 win over Yankton.  Coach Rosemary Bellum says it feels good to reach the tournament again especially with everything going on in the world:

Watertown will open up tournament play tonight at 7 p.m. against Sioux Falls Roosevelt.  Coach Bellum tells us what the Arrows need to do to get that opening-round victory:

Todd Enderson will have coverage of all the Watertown volleyball games at the Class AA Tournament on 950 KWAT.  Other games at the AA include the one seed Sioux Falls O’Gorman facing the eight seed Harrisburg at noon, four seeded Sioux Falls Washington taking the fifth seed Aberdeen Central at 2 p.m., and the three seed Huron taking on the six seed Brandon Valley at 5 p.m.

The Class B Tournament will be held at the Huron Arena with opening-round games beginning at noon featuring the one seed Northwestern facing the eight seed Corsica-Stickney and the four seed Colman-Egan taking on the five seed Bridgewater-Emery at 2 p.m.  The night session will see the three seed Chester Area facing the six seed Faulkton at 5 p.m. and the two seed Warner versus the seven seed Hitchcock-Tulare at 7 p.m.
