State officials confirm more than 80 COVID-19 infections at one Sioux Falls employer (Audio)

PIERRE, S.D.—Minnehaha County is seeing a major spike in COVID-19 cases, and today, the State Health Department Secretary confirmed one workplace where many of the infections have occurred.
Kim Malsam-Rysdon told reporters dozens of people who work at the Smithfield Foods plant in Sioux Falls have tested positive for coronavirus….
Malsam-Rysdon confirmed that the number of COVID-19 infections among employees at the plant is, “over eighty”……
The total number of cornavirus infections in Minnehaha County is at 228, or over half the statewide total of 393.
Forty-one residents of Minnehaha County who’ve been stricken with the virus are now listed as “recovered.”
