BROOKINGS, S.D.–A Brookings County stabbing suspect who was on the run and part of a nationwide search has turned himself in.

Brookings County Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says 44 year-old James Basham of Brookings turned himself in to authorities in Brookings on Thursday.

An arrest warrant for Basham was issued on July 9th following a stabbing in Bushnell in which the 26 year-old victim suffered injuries to his face and shoulder.
Basham fled the scene before police arrived.

Sebring says Basham turned himself in last night(Thursday night), and immediately posted $10,000 bond. He was released after spending about an hour in custody.

He’s facing two counts of Aggravated Assault.
