BRIDGEWATER, S.D.–Signs of new life and hope are springing from South Dakota soil.

The start of planting in eastern South Dakota was delayed by lingering winter weather, but now the corn is beginning to sprout.

Bridgewater area farmer Jason Hofer says the weekend rains are welcome, but there is a slight down-side…

Hofer has about 80% of his corn ground planted, and about 45% of the beans are in.
