South Dakota’s Hunt for Habitat “Super Tag” is back

March 3, 2021

Across the country, habitat loss has become a major focus for wildlife agencies and outdoor lovers.

In 2019, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and the Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Department created the Hunt For Habitat “super tag” to help raise money for habitat in our state.

In two years, the Hunt For Habitat has raised nearly $800,000 for habitat improvements across the state. We want to keep the momentum and put more quality habitat and access on the ground.

The Hunt for Habitat raffle not only raises money for habitat, it offers a once in a lifetime chance for four lucky hunters to create memories in our state.

Participants have two separate raffles to pick from:

Three winners will receive one “any elk,” one “any deer” and one “any antelope” license. The winners of these packages will select either the 2021 or 2022 seasons to use each tag. These licenses are valid for any open season and location. Winners can also choose to hunt with any weapon that is legal and valid for the time period and location. No more than one of the winners may be a nonresident.
A separate raffle winner will receive a Custer State Park Trophy Buffalo License. This license is good for either 2021 or 2022. This package is also open to nonresidents.
Tickets are $10 for South Dakota residents and $20 for nonresidents. There is no limit to the number of tickets that can be purchased by an individual.

The deadline to enter the Hunt for Habitat raffle is July 19. Winners will be drawn immediately following the raffle closing date.

The money raised by the Hunt for Habitat raffle will directly support habitat programs on both public and private lands in South Dakota. Click on the button below for more information and to enter the Hunt for Habitat Raffle.
