South Dakota’s COVID-19 count surpasses 15,000 mark

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – South Dakota health officials have reported 220 new cases of the coronavirus.

The state has now had a total of more than 15,000 cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday.

There were 3,018 cases still active. South Dakota’s death toll from the disease is 173, with no new deaths reported Sunday.

Health officials report nearly 12,000 recoveries from the disease, and a total of 81 people who are currently hospitalized.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
