SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–Enrollment at the six state universities in South Dakota rose this fall.

Total headcount this fall was reported at thirty-three thousand, six hundred ninety. Enrollment peaked at over thirty-six thousand six hundred in the fall of 2017.
Total headcount by campus and comparison to Fall 2021 headcount:
SDSU: 11,331 (-1.2%)
USD: 9,856 (+4.1%)
Black Hills State: 3,425 (-3.2%)
Northern State: 3,344 (+.1%)
Dakota State: 3,241 (+.7%)
SD School of Mines and Technology: 2,493 (+3.1%)
