HURON, S.D.—The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many summertime events to be cancelled.

That includes fairs, both large and small. The North Dakota State Fair in Minot and the Red River Valley Fair in West Fargo have already announced the cancellations of their 2020 events. Some smaller county fairs like the Norman County Fair in Ada, Minnesota have also pulled the plug for this year.

But the South Dakota State Fair is still on—at least for now.

Assistant Fair Manager Candi Briley released a statement to KDLO Country via email today that reads:

“As South Dakotans continue to deal with the unprecedented impacts of the coronavirus, the South Dakota State Fair is monitoring the COVID-19 situation on a daily basis. The health and safety of everyone involved with the South Dakota State Fair is our number one priority as we consider what the 2020 Fair looks like. For now, we keep our sights set on the “perfect vision of fun.”

The South Dakota State Fair is scheduled to be held September 3rd thru the 7th in Huron.
