South Dakota sheriff injured in rear end collision

JACKSON COUNTY, S.D.–A crash Tuesday in Jackson County is yet another reminder for drivers to pay attention to the road when driving.

According to a post on the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page a sheriff’s vehicle was rear-ended by an S-U-V that did substantial damage to the sheriff’s vehicle, crushing the tailgate up to the rear wheels.

According to the post both the Sheriff Tucker Amiotte and the S-U-V driver survived.

“South Dakotans support their law enforcement officers, and today was a reminder of the dangers our officers face in the line of duty,” said Attorney General Marty Jackley.

Drivers also are reminded to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles parked on roadways.
